About AmSoc

This website is dedicated to providing practical information
about Mexico, and more specifically, about Guadalajara.

Our hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
We are also open Saturday afternoons from 1.00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The American Society of Jalisco (Am-Soc) is a private, non-profit organization (Asociacion Civil). Membership is open to anyone interested in joining, regardless nationality, culture, or religion.

AmSoc has been active in Guadalajara for more than fifty years and is a major provider of information, services, and social contact for for foreign residents and visitors. Our primary purpose is to serve the needs of the English-speak-ing community in the Guadalajara and Lake Chapala areas. In addition, Am-Soc seeks to establish a bridge between the English-speaking com-munity and its Mexican hosts in order to promote better understanding and mutual respect.

Among it's many services, AmSoc provides financial and other support for local charities.

AmSoc hosts many social and cultural events throughout the year, as well as offering such services as annual flu vaccinations, English lessons, and aerobic exercises. (See the Programs and Service page for more details.)

Visit us for coffee or a soft drink so that we can extend the hand of friendship to you personally. Learn more about the community and we're sure you will join us in our support and appreciation of the beautiful city of Guadalajara.
